Ayurvedic Oil preparation for Nail Disorders

Nails are composed of dead cells called keratin and attached with layer of skin called dermis. Common issue we see in nails is brittle and dry nails. Calcium in the food we take is first absorbed by bones and then goes through nails and hairs. Following simple remedy is made from two leaves, datura and arka.

Ingredients:

  • Sesame oil/ Til ka Thel (तिल का तेल) / Nuvvula Noone (నువ్వుల నూనె) [Buy Online at Amazon India / US / Canada / UK] – 100 g
  • Crown flower, Gigantic swallow wort / Calotropis gigantea / Arka (अर्क) / Madar (मदार) / Jilledu (జిల్లేడు) leaves – 3 leaves
  • Datura metel, Devil’s Trumphet / Dhatūra (धतूरा) / Ummettha (ఉమ్మెత్త) – 3 leaves

Preparation:
Cut the leaves into small pieces. Boil the oil on slow flame and add these pieces slowly. Boil it until the oil absorbs the juice form leaves. Filter and collect the oil in a glass bottle.

Usage:
Massage the lukewarm oil on the brittle or damaged nails, put cotton soaked in oil around the nail and apply bandage / tape. Remove it after a day. Repeat it until the nails return to its normal state.
