Ingredients:
- Yellow Myrobalan or Chebulic Myrobalan / Terminalia chebula / Haritaki (हरीतकी) / Harad (हरद) / Karakkaya (కరక్కాయ) [Buy Online at Amazon India / US / Canada / UK]
– 100 g - Beleric or bastard myrobalan / Terminalia bellirica / Vibhitaka (विभितक) / Aksha (अक्ष) / Thanikaya (తానికాయ) [Buy Online at Amazon India / US / Canada / UK] – 100 g
- Indian gooseberry / Phyllanthus emblica / Amalika (अमलिक) / Amla (आम्ला) / Usirikaya (ఉసిరికాయ) [Buy Online at Amazon India / US / Canada / UK] – 100 g
- Cow milk – 1/2 L
- Cow ghee / Ghai ke ghee (गाय के घी) / Aavu neyyi (ఆవు నెయ్యి) [Buy Online at Amazon India / US / Canada / UK] – 250 g
Preparation:
Soak the 300 grams of triphala skins in 3 litres of water overnight. The next day, boil it slowly until only 1 litre of Kashayam (decoction) remains. Strain it well.
Then, warm the ½ litre of cow’s milk and mix it with the Kashayam. Add the 250 g of cow’s ghee into this mixture. Now, place it back on the stove and boil on a low flame. Keep stirring and watching carefully. The milk and Kashayam will evaporate completely, and only the ghee will remain. In the end, you will see small bubbles (frothing). When the bubbles subside and the water content completely evaporates, the ghee is ready.
Carefully strain the hot ghee to remove any remaining residue. Triphala Ghrita is now prepared!
After it cools down completely, store it carefully in a clean, dry glass bottle. Make sure the bottle is completely dry inside. No moisture should remain, otherwise the ghee may spoil.
This is pure natural ghee, so it may solidify or settle – that’s normal.
How to Use Triphala Ghrita:
Dosage:
– Children: 5 grams
– Adults: 10 grams
Take it 1 hour before or after food, twice a day (morning and evening). You can mix it with rice or eat it directly.
For best results, keep the stomach empty for at least 1 hour before and after taking it. Avoid eating or drinking anything during that time.
